Longer Day Trips: Lake Regional Park in Fort Myers

Early in March we made a point to drive down to Gethsemane Primitive Baptist Church for their annual meeting. Afterward, as we so often do, we looked around for an interesting place nearby to visit, and we found a little hidden gem - Lake Regional Park. This park was ginormous. There were various playgrounds, a bounce house play ground (that one wasn't free though), bicycle rentals, kayak rentals, a little train museum and a large trail that took a boardwalk across the middle of the lake and winded through the trees before circling around the lake to where it began. They even have two splash pads but they have begun completely overhauling them, since they were destroyed by Hurricane Ian a few years ago. We saw some wildlife, mostly ducks and birds. The highlight for the kids was some of the ducklings we saw right near the shore.
It was a beautiful walk with lots of little niches to stop and sit on a bench to enjoy the view. I tried to get a few nice pictures of the kids, but they OF COURSE thought they were hillarious, and so I got what I got. Britt was spending the weekend with a friend and wasn't with us, but we had a good time. It was insanely busy on a Saturday, but if you are in the area it's worth stopping by. They have a number of special activities throughout the year, including summer day camps.

If you too would like to visit the address to Lake Regional Park is 7330 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers, Florida. Entrance is free but you must pay for parking either $1 an hour, or $5 for the day, and they are open from 7 to dusk daily. We would definitely recommend it if you are in the area.
